Carotid Angiographic Finding and Clinical Study of Cerebrovascular Accident


Abstract
A clinical analysis was done on the 97 cases of cerebrovascular accident which had admitted into Chungnam University. hospital and underwent carotid angiography from 1976.¢¥2 to 1979. 5.
The following results were obtained
1. The hemorrhagic disease was definitely dominent than the occlusive disease and presented 88% of all cerebrovascular accident.
2. The ratio of sexes was 1.4 : 1, in favor of male and the highest age incidence of occlusive disease was between the age of 50 and 60 years(58%), while that of hemorrh¡þagic type was between 40 and 50 years(64%).
3. The predominent symptoms and signs of intracerebral hemorrhage were altered consciousness(91%), abnormal pupil size(64%) and motor weakness (64%).
4. The intracerebral hemorrhage was located almost in similar frequency in both thal¡þamic(50%) and external capsule(41%).
5. The frequent sites of cerebral anterior circulation aneurysm were anterior commun¡þicating artery(40%) and internal carotid artery(27%).
6. Of the proven 63 cases of subarachnoid hemorrhage, 30 patients showed cerebral aneurysm in carotid angiography.
7. Surgical procedures were carried out on 10 cases of intracerebral hemorrhage and 8 cases of cerebral aneurysm.
